no this is not true, the glass will only crack if there is a sudden drop in temperature. When glass heats up, it expands ( a little offcourse) if you then suddenly cool it down dramatically, the glass will shrink, if this shrinking happens too fast then the molecules cannot maintain an energetic stable position towards each other, causing a rip or crack in the glass.
