It sounds like a dodgy ECU, I had this issue with my Mini and basically there was something wrong with the software and everytime I was pulling away, changing gear and doing about 20 mph it would just cut out like it had stalled but my foot could be right on the clutch etc.

I agree with sluffguy, the best thing to do is take it the garage and leave it with them overnight. Now tell them excatly what the problem is and they are to drive it as every other 'normal' persons drives it. Mines Mini was in three times to find this out due to the fact that the first guy drove it like he stole it, the second guy could feel the stall coming so booted it and the third time the guy was only moving it 300 yards and it cut out just as he got to the garage door to take it for a diagnostics check.

A new ECU upgrade should only take about and hour or so and should hopefully solve your problem.
