I think (except Switzerland) that Diesel is cheaper than Petrol all over Europe (lower tax) it was here until a few years ago when the government realised saw a way of making even more money without putting the tax up as much on petrol (Gordon's Daimler and most of the MP's and their partners cars are probably petrol
). They claim it is because of the sooty deposits so where is the discount if you run a Euro IV car then???
