THE CHICKEN IS IN THE POT!! I REPEAT, THE CHICKEN IS IN THE POT!!! OVER!
(err, the panel's been fitted...

)
Guys, just got back from Pipercross in Northampton. Panel was fitted in approx 30 seconds, a quick chat with James, European Sales Manager and then a brief drive cross-country back to my office in Bedford. (I love working for myself!)
First impressions are REALLY GOOD! The first thing you notice about the panel filter is that it's noticably thinner than the paper filter. Obviously, this is because the paper in the OEM filter is concertina'd to increase it's surface area. Anyway, off the mark the turbo is noticably more vocal due to the open nature of the foam. Pick up seams a tad smoother and the engine would appear to be a bit quieter. I'd say the engine seems to be running more freely with less restriction.
I was surprised how dirty the OEM filter was looking after less than a thousand miles!
Didn't get chance to really plant the accelerator on the way home, but my average MPG started to creep up which was surprising as I'm right at the bottom of the tank. Average with OEM filter was 42.8, average with Pipercross fitted 43.8. Will fill up tonight with Ultimate Diesel (although I do believe that cociane would actually be cheaper nowadays) and will report back next Wednesday ish. I'm taking a long drive from Bedford to the Lake District & back this weekend, so it'll give me time to clock up a few miles and gather a more grounded opinion.
By Wednesday evening, I'll have had the Eibach lowering springs done & rear track widened too!
I think I love my car again.
