We did nearly 100k miles in our Forester and loved (almost) every mile of it. Admittedly it was the turbo auto, but it did make the Civic diesel seem slow. But on the other hand fuel consumption over the whole period was just 23.5 mpg (measured not indicated). Servicing wasn't bad at £5248 total (the later ones were done by me, the earlier ones by a main dealer) including tyres. The only repairs needed in the whole time were an oxygen sensor and a radiator.
Now we've got a non-turbo Outback alongside the Civic.
