As a ex -painter for Aston martin (before they moved to Gaydon ) I can tell you catagorically that the frontal area is the problem with the civic , I`m now a paint rep and can tell you that any car with a large frontal area wil suffer the same problem the merc a-class is another example ,next time you`re at the supermarket take a walk past an a -class and you`ll see what I mean . The only way round it is to have the bonnet (i`d probally do the front wings as well - but not the bumper as it is already has a plastic additive added)resprayed before you get any stone chips in it and get the paint shop to use an elastic additive that they would for plastic parts .The paint will be soft and stone resistant but will eventually dry out and if /when you do get a stone chip you it will hopefully not penetrate deeper than the original (same colour )paint . Clear as mud really isnt it guys.
