New Civic or a Facelift for 2009

Hi all,

Well my car is due for a change early next year and I am allready window shopping (too early I know).

Now I would happily consider another civic if it had a facelift or a new model. Woudnt want the same one again and it be nice to have a little change.

Does anyone know if there will be a facelift? I cant see them replacing the model as it has been so successful and it will only be 3 years then, usually its after 4 years.

Any opininons on wether we will see anything different early 2009?

As far as i know,highly unlikely bar a few spec changes, as to what they may be, unknown as yet if at all....

It is about time for the current civic to have a nip and tuck here and there

From Experience the Civic generally has a 5/6 year life cycle and this
model is coming up for its 3rd B'day back ed of this year / beginning of next

we will just need to wait and see

When they do faclift it let's hope they don't spoil the look of it.

It is quite a unique design and they could easily ruin it. As BMW did with the Mini, IMHO.

Well I feel they shoudl make the front a bit meaner, colour code the plastic trims and get rid of the orange in the lights. Perhaps offer Bi-Xenons and LED lights but I dont think they offer LEDS on any of their car range.

No, replace them with clear indictor lenses with the clear bulbs that flash orange (Similar to the front and side)

Upgrade the enginepower a bit so you don't have to go to chiptuners.
Rear wiper.

Upgraded 1.4i engine like in the new Jazz, taller 6th gear and softer suspension. I would like white as colour. (If offering a rear wiper, make it an option, please. I prefer without.)

Well, it's a pretty difficult design to improve on. Think of the Peugeot 206 when it came out in 1998. How much has that design changed with the 207 (released 2006)? Hardly.

The thing is, when you design a car that looks really cutting edge, it gets harder to design one that looks even more cutting edge. Unless you get rid of the wheels and slap some anti-grav nacelles on it, perhaps.

In a French web car magazine, they present the new Accord, and they speak about a 2L engine (156 HP) "coming from the CIVIC", I'm afraid they missed something ... But something between the 1.8 and the R Type, with a "true" VTEC would be welcomed.
On this Accord there is also an USB plug to put your mp3 ...

Yes and no... The glass bonnet would not be that difficult, if kept to acrylic plastic (it doesn't have to be as clear as windshield glass after all). The HUD and laser-diode lights are cheap technology (Citroen has HUD in one of their models). Keyless entry and start is established tech (Renault). The spoilers are a bit more pricey, admittedly, but the sliding doors are again established tech. The handgrips would ironically be the most pricey thing given the handling forces they would be subject to.

It would add up a bit admittedly, and I suspect that the next generation of cars will focus on economy rather than flashy tech. Still...

Bit of a nip and tuck maybe, a few frills like a USB port on the dash but largely unchanged. It would be nice to see a 1.8 litre 110 bhp diesel in VED band B but I think that's unlikely.

It's a fair bet that Honda main dealers now know the exact date of the facelift Civic release.

This would give them time to make an extra effort to run out the existing model.

I doubt if any of the dealers on this board are going to cut their throat by telling us, though!
