The civic has been so successful I cannot see them replacing the model for at least 4-5 years.
I do think, or HOPE that they introduce a facelift, in it I would like: Colour coding the plastic Rear light clusters revamped (White or something) Bi Xenon Projectors Perhaps a performance diesal! |

For the performance diesal side of things theres a few topics on here about the type rd which as far as i can see is just the 2.2 engine with a new mod chip on. Well as long as there are no rumors im gona trade in my meriva and get my self a type r nxt year then.

2010 !
That's only 4 years. You could be right: Gen 1 - 1973 > 1979 Gen 2 - 1980 > 1983 Gen 3 - 1984 > 1987 Gen 4 - 1988 > 1991 Gen 5 - 1992 > 1995 Gen 6 - 1996 > 2000 Gen 7 - 2001 > 2005 Gen 8 - 2006 > Present They do seem quite short lifespans compared to other manufacturers. the civic's lifespan is anything from 4 - 6 yrs
in past years there has been a facelift approx 3 yrs into the cars lifespan with an all new model coming out at the end of it's 5yr beginning of it's 6th yr that is going by the last few civics so facelift should be beck end of this yr / beginning of next year |

This high-revving diesel business is absurd.
Insurance and road tax for 180hp vs 136hp will not be a laughing matter. I am pleased that they are going to offer auto gearbox on the 136hp (but perhaps not yet on facelift model). I for one am waiting 'till confirmation of facelift Civic before deciding which to buy, and am willing to wait 'till end of year. They could indeed do some minor redesign of the rear. |

*sigh I don't hope they will release a facelift soon... heh...
Why? I'm just going to get this car... don't want to drive a old model over a year :P I hope around 2010 they release a new one... |

When they do release a new model don't get one within the first year or two.
This model is now 2+ years in and we are still hearing of occasional problems that some dealers are reluctant to deal with, and HUK are also becoming more reluctant to fix under warranty. |

Peopl forget that although the 8th Gen Civic was built from 2006 onwards, they were also still building the EP3 until the end of 2006/start of 2007. So the 7th gen had a slightly longer lifespan due to the Type R.
I know when BMW make face lift changes they are very discreet on the outside, but they always introduce a new gear box and better engine too. |
