Hi Charley,
Mine was the same, hit 2000 rpm, slip like mad. Until the dealer was with me in the car, then good as gold.
If I drove mine very smoothly the clutch slip would return after a few hundred miles, but if you slipped the clutch by pressing the pedal whilst travelling at around 50-60 in fourth or fifth until the revs started to soar then let the pedal go sharply a couple of times it would cure it for some time.
A good way to make it slip was third gear (empty road) left foot brake; right foot acclerator and hold the car back on the brakes while getting up to full power!
Most dangerous I know and not the best way to demonstrate to the dealer!
I had to take a day off work, drive around until it was slipping good then whizz straight to the dealer.
Still had a load of hassle to get it fixed.
I have only done 5000k in my new 08 Civic so it's a bit early to till if I'm going to have to birch it John Cleese style in 25k miles!
