I'm a little confused with regards to some of the post about the filler cap and the retaining strap. On my car the retaining strap is attached to the filler cap by a rotating collar and when I close the flap the collar rotates clockwise with the strap in the upper portion of the recess. Some of the post suggest ensuring that the strap is in a certain position but nothing I do can influence where it lies.

Does every ones fuel flap and filler cap look like the above?
