One of the (supposed) benefits of having a new car is added reliability. Seems strange then, that all of Honda's engineering prowess is let down by many Civic owners being worried about whether the fuel flap opens or not!
Personally, I don't let my tank go below 1/4 now, just in case the filler cap fails to open. And that's crazy really.
Surely, such concerns normally come with having an old banger and wondering if you'll actually reach your intended destination? Not with a brand spanking new Civic!!
No doubt, in a few years time, the used car sections on What Car, Parkers etc. will have "sticking fuel filler cap release" as the No. 1 point on what to look for when buying a second-hand example.
So far it's only stuck once and that was literally right after the handover by my dealer (I had to fill up straight away as it had less than 5 litres in the tank). And, as it's full service at petrol stations here, the attendants had a good laugh at my expense when I couldn't open the damn thing
It was traumatic I tell you!!
