Honda's roof rack uses the bolts under the trim (see TT's photo) and is therefore attached in a completely different way. So, in a nutshell, it has nothing to do with how Thule the system works!

Thanks for clearing that up - very glad to hear it - though on the Alfa, the Thule footpack does 'interact' with the manufacturers fittings for the roof rack (it's a kind of bolt under the rubber around the door which the footpack hooks over).
