Hi There,

My car has just slighlty gone over the 25k service and from looking at the list of areas covered in the schedule, this would be a doddle for myself as i have been maintaining/modifying cars for 10+ years although i do not work as a mechanic and do not like being ripped off for jobs i can quite easily do in my sleep.

I rang the guy at Honda and basically asked the question on whether i could buy all the parts from Honda and just do the work myself (a monkey could do it quite frankley). He said that this is fine to do (he realised i knew what i was on about)as Honda ephasise that the services should be carried out as and when they are set out in the schedule. The only real problem could arise if the car developed a problem later down the line and Honda ask for the service history of the vehicle. But honestly, if something were to seriously happen, i dont seee it been down to any of the items replaced on a 2nd service? And also, even if i took it to my local garage to have the work done (which Honda allows) they could still turn round and say that it hasnt been serviced at Honda and refuse any warrenty issues so i may aswell just do it myself right??

The other thing is, the clutch as just started to slip and i am wondering if they may be funny and ask about the 2nd service (though adjustment of this isnt mentioned in the schedule??)

What are your thoughts on what to do as i was going to do the service myself tomorrow!

I only want to keep the car until its 3 yrs old.
