I was in the same boat 3 weeks ago before we ordered our new car.
The things that swayed our decision to go Type 'S' was fuel consumption, insurance and the unwanted attention of owning a Type 'R' again.
The increased overall running costs were not worth the additional extras you'd gain from a type 'R' (top speed and handling, seats to name a few) and since the colours were boring, no yellow or white options.
So we decided type 'S' GT sticking with the 2.2 diesel to be our new civic.
