Hey guys.
The coolant temperature in all cars I've been in has always gone and sat exactly in the middle of the gauge on the dashboard after a bit of driving around.
My 2.2 is not the same though, it likes to stay a few clicks short of the middle. Its always been like that (I got it in August).
Questions are:
- Does your 2.2 temperature stay smack bang in the middle (like it should?) - It would be nice to know if this is a common thing or whether my car actually needs tweaking.
- I would have thought that the operating temperature of the engine would have an effect on economy, performance and maybe other things too. Is it really something I should be worried about? A few clicks in engine temperature will probably make a difference over a few thousand miles, right?
- Any way of tweaking this? Assuming the gauge on the dash is okay (self-test works fine), and the temperature probe is okay... is there a thermostat somewhere? I guess it must be all software. Call the dealer?
