My question is both set of tyres are alloy, how do I clean them without scratching them to bits? I must admit to my shame , when the summer tyres came off last year I did not clean them , just chucked them into our garage.

Now wanting to do it properly I need some advise. I have tried some special alloy cleaning stuff which didn't work very well (no wonder with the grease and dirt on it).

Thanks a million...
Hi CB. It depends on what type of dirt is on there. I would use Megs 'Hot Rims' - its the safest wheel cleaner as its non acidic.

But it its heavy deposits of brake dust\tar. Then I would use Megs 'Wheel Brightner' - its not available in Halfords. But you can get it on-line http://www.cleanandshiny.co.uk/

Then for whats's left over use some clay (ie Megs Quick Clay) - perhaps this is the most important step for getting that slippy to touch finish. Follow up with a good quality wax\wheel wax.

Job done!
