Had my i-Shift for 9 months and it has been faultless - unlike the well posted problems with the rear shocks, fuel filler cap release & windscreen top seal to name but a few.
Drove a 2007 Toyota Yaris 1.3 the other day with their MultiMode transmission and thought it a very nice little car. It has been available longer than Honda's i-Shift and I have not heard of any problems with it at all. This is an automated manual similar to the i-Shift only minus the steering wheel paddles. In auto mode it requires the same treatment as the i-Shift in lifting slightly between up changes. Being familiar with the i-Shift, is was all very natural to make smooth progress.
However, in its sequential mode, for some unknown reason, the gear change was the exact opposite to the i-Shift - gearlever back to change up and forward to change down!
Japanese consistency!
Got me thinking afterwards, WHICH is the most logical?????
