Yep that's what I do.

Interesting that different cars trip comps produce different results!

Every week I fill up to the 'click', then wait a few seconds and drizzle a bit more in till it clicks for the second time to ensure accuracy.
I then note the trip mileage (usually around 220) and the litres put in is on the receipt they give me.

So far over the last 6 weeks the trip comp has given me a steady 43.x MPG but the 'actual' method has resulted in only 38-39MPG.

I have just changed from BP 97RON to BP 95RON and currently the trip comp is back on 43.xMPG so I will know on Sunday how it compares.
