My Golf 150 did 45, my Golf 115 did 48 and my Golf 90 did 48. The trip computers on the Golfs all read 3 mpg high though. My Civ is doing 46 (48 on the computer).

Just enough time to let the oil fall back down into the sump. 10 minutes on a hot engine should be fine.

I'm going to pop this post into engines - there's no real fault here.
