As Pottsy says only do it if you can trust yourself to remember to belt up without the beeper. If you can't, play safe and leave it. I just have issues with removing any safety device and a seatbelt is the one thing that WILL save your life.

I agree SAFETY first
It is so easy to forget simple things
JUST LIKE YOUR SEAT BELT ,
imagine this knock at your door for your family to see a police man standing their with a somber look ,knowing it is bad news ,the mum having to explaining to the children daddy's gone to heaven,
if only he was wearing his seat belt he would have still been here .
also take a moment for that poor police officer having to knock at the door,
also the poor ambulance men and fire brigade having to scoop your remains up.
you may now understand why the beeper is so important to leave it connected,
