I recently purchased a Navman N60i and it is very impressive. It has a larger screen that most of the portable units (4.3 inches) which was a major factor in going the Navman route and also has had some really good reviews.
Until the N60i I ran Destinator and then Co-Pilot on a laptop. The planning functions of a laptop program are hard to beat with a handheld portable but I've found the driving mode comparable in all respects.
