After 2888 miles in my 1.8 I'm getting 37.8 or 37.9 miles to the gallon according to the on-board computer. A lot better than my old 2.0 litre VTEC Accord, mostly stop-start 11 mile commute. I'm sure I'll get better than that once it loosens up, or if I go for a loooooong drive, which I haven't managed to do yet.
