Scott, you are brave to post this on here. Good on you for admitting it and for admitting that it was not too clever.
About the above comment, I'm pretty sure every person who has ever got into a car while under some influence of alcohol and then crashed because of it would have said that, too. The thing with drink is it effects your judjement, not only with driving etc, but this kind of judjement, too.
I'm glad you didn't get into any trouble and that you got home safe
