I notice this thread's quite old, and things might have changed, but Danko seems to have had a real hiding in this thread, I'd call it bullying, but there you go. At the end of the day, the "main driver" stuff is a bit of a misnomer, I've contacted insurers from time to time on all manner of enquiries and the bottom line is that the one's I've spoken to are not that bothered really. For a couple of reasons. 1) if the lad doesn't say he's the main driver and he has a bump, they may not pay out, but they can still keep collecting steep premiums, and 2) Dad could use it once a month and completely wreck it because he's not as used to it as son is so does it matter who's driving it?
It will only matter when someone has to be scraped off the road and dad finds that there's no payout, then who's the loser?
I'd say leave the lad alone, and might even suggest that some are jealous of the fact that he's a young lad with a nice car because daddy paid for it. That's just his good luck. Life's tough, but you have to get on with it.
