When buying your Civic, what other cars were you considering and why?`

I have not ordered yet (trying to get a good deal somewhere..) but I have considered:

1) BMW 1-series, but Civic money only buys you a basic 116...

2) Merc A-class. You can get a A150 with some options. It is more comfortable that the Civic, but not as much fun...
