Manufacturers in general tend to facelift models to keep them upto date with the competition - as the Civic is so left field in the styling department not sure if Honda will facelift - it wont look old compared to the competition as no competition looks anything like it.
Will probably be proved wrong but thats the reason I understand that facelifts come about - make a model more desirable/comparable with other manufacturers models - or if its not selling well - no problems with the Civics selling
