Trading in advice

Hi all, really glad I found a Civic specific forum!

I'm currently looking at a CTR GT (new), and am trading in a 2002 Alhambra Diesel.

I went to one Honda dealer and they offered £6K!!! and didn't even seem bothered about selling a car to me (Letchworth, UK).

I'm test driving one in Cambridge where I work tomorrow, so will see what they offer.

Any tips / advice before I go in? I'm interested in the service pack £500, so will keep this in my back pocket if I need to negotiate. Not really interested in any other options, although will take a look at the sat nav (although I already have one on my Palm I use a lot, with TomTom).

I'm hoping to get around £9K, although it clearly depends on what he will take off the list price. Given they are only apparently allowed 2 per month per dealer, it's a sellers market!

I could sell it private but don't want to be without a car (the worry of selling too early / late and not having a car). Do dealers "lend" cars for any period? I have heard of this at some other main dealers. How common is this with Honda?

Any other tips / advice / experience is appreciated.
