Have now had my 1,8 Sport for 9 months and driven almost 27000 kms - I guess close to 17k miles. Instrument read out is almost invariably between 6,9 and 7,1 litres per 100 km which should be about 14,28 kilometers per litre or in the region of 40,6 miles per gallon. The truth is however that the calculated average is 13,1 kilometers per litre or 37,23 miles per gallon - a difference of 9,05%.

Strange to say, I had the speedometer checked at an independent test station (Danish equivalent of the AA) and the speedometer overreads by between 8,7% and 9,1%, right across the range from 30 kph to 150 kph, i.e. when the speedometer show 100kph, true speed is 91,9 kph.

I am a very happy Civic owner but I truly believe that Honda have pimped the performance figures for the car - both economy, speed and probably the kW and Nm figures too!!

But it is still a great car - as I've said before, every mile is a smile.
