Civinfo - View Single Post - Indicator Automatic cancelling of indicators

The Civic has a 'lane changing' facility on the indicators. If you just flick the stalk quickly it will indicate 3 times. Are you just flicking the stalk, seeing the car indicate and think it's locked into the direction you want it to indicate ??

I can't say I have noticed the behaviour you have described otherwise.
