Two people, both working in the plant on engines, have told me what happens - and it's exactly as Greedy posted (he also worked there). Most are just assembled, some are tested for quality control. All cars are tested when made by a short run.
There's no pre-running in, nor power runs on test beds, nor anything. I think the Norwegian product manager has been eating too much brown cheese!
