Removing Mark on Dash

Wonder if someone could help me?
We’ve just bought a 2103 EX Civic after we managed to write off our 2009 Civic.
Anyway, the new Civic has a mark on the passenger dashboard, the flattish bit above the glove box that goes back all the way to the windscreen. It looks like something was previously stuck down to it and on removing it, it’s taken off the top layer of the dash, or maybe just left a residue. I’ve attached a photo which hopefully will show it. Does anyone know how to remove, or cover up, this mark? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Any many apologies for one, maybe posting this in the wrong section and two, if this topic has already been discussed elsewhere on the Forum.
Many thanks.

Left residue or taken top layer off.

Can you tell by feel which it is. If residue then just work it by rubbing, possibly with a little white spirit on a finger. Let it soften it first.

If it's removed a layer then you need to do the same to remove that white stuff first then see how it looks.
