The father of a friend long ago was a copper (this must be in the seventies or so) and he was after a local lad who would make a nuisance of himself at night in his car. The copper stopped him in the early hours, and asked "Does your horn work?" The lad proudly sounded his horn and the copper nicked him for sounding his horn in a built up area at night - he was only looking for the answer "yes"..
