Help a new-civic owner achieve short-term fame :)

Hello all

Sorry for the lack of posts, I've been without broadband for 1.5 months. Well, I have internet again! Woohoo!

So I'm back and will be perusing the boards as ever.

Anyway, can I ask an ikkle favour ... I've been nominated for an award today (woohoo!) and so would love it if people voted for me - go to Chortle Awards and click on 'Stephen Grant' under compere. They don't ask for any personal details, it's just one click, and you're done.

Ta!

Stephen

Meaning what?

Is it just that you've seen the "You have been" responce on another forum and thought you would use it for no reason?

It has no bearing whatsoever on the subject. I went to a site and clicked a box by Stephen's name. I didnt have to enter any details at all, just click the box and hit OK. It didn't cost me anything at all so I haven't "been done" in anyway financially. I didn't have to enter any email address's so I havent had my details "phished" either.

Please explain your meaning.

ps. I've heard Stephen's compare skills (Via SMCC Riz ) and I think he is pretty funny so well worth the vote.

Relax, it's just a little joke, that's all! It was word play on the previous post (which happened to be yours) - quite funny but no offence intending I am sure!

Plus, I have no idea who stephen is but in the spirit of goodwill and because I am a nice guy I have voted for..................him

I wasn't offended, but wanted to know what was intended by the comment.
"Word play" is only funny when it is used within a said context or applies to the post in question is it not?

For example, If Stephen had posted
"Can someone pay me £20 for this small bottle of snake oil"
I had then replied :-
"Done"
Then the correct responce would be to quote my post and follow with the comment of :-
"you have been"

That would have been funny and relevent at the same time hitting two comedy notes with class.

But when the request is for help without any form of cost ro difficulty to the "helper" then the comment "You have been" (whilst following the comment "done") would have implied that in some way the helper had been ripped off or thier help abused in some way, thus implying the original requestor was less than honest in thier original request.

The "word play" was used in the context of this implication (highlighted by the following used). So the comment was worded and implied that it was meant to mean something hidden.

Me asking for the explanation of said hidden meaning is perfectly justifiable

(See what I did there?)

I feel that you are a little aggressive in your point and maybe that is more of my point than what was said. Plus they do say that time is money!

I have no idea what was behind Robbo51's comment but having spoken with him on a few occassions I would be surprised if he had outright malice in his comment, that is all I was trying to point out.

I am sorry if you took it all the wrong way, but each to their own, eh?
