i was driving to Uni today and there was quite an erratic rider who was holding up people on a narrow street by riding all over the place which meant traffic building up behind... blah blah blah .. i know i didn't lose much time but it got me thinking about cyclists.....
why don't they have to pay road tax ? why do they feel they can go straight through red lights ? why is there not some sort of test for them, as they are riding on the same road as cars and trucks !? |

short of having the power to randomly stop any cyclist and demand to see some sort of cycling license, a form of insurance, and proof of cycle tax, then how could it be done? Hang on...! Joking aside, it would get my vote (although, in defference to many many cyclists, not all ride like that - but certainly a lot do |

I have always thought that cyclists should have some sort of liability insurance to cover them for hitting people, scratching cars while passing them, that sort of thing.

If you don't like cyclists NEVER come to Cambridge!
There are 3 types: The locals (like you get anywhere), The University Students (who are probably the best of the 3 groups), The foriegn students. The foriegn students are the worst, they go round in groups, usually fairly young and don't know the laws on the roads, and not very good riders anyway. A few years ago a young (15/16 I'd guess) hit my passengers wing mirror with the handlebars of her bike while I was stopped at traffic lights, she was trying to follow her mates going up the inside. The mirror was knocked back but not damaged. I got out and had a go at her, asking if she rode a bike like that at home, of course the answer was no, so I replied why do it here? Probably made no impression on her but it made me feel better! In Cambridge I either leave plenty of room for bikes when stopped at lights, or none at all so they have to use the footpath! Terry |

Easy way to stop cyclists, hit em', works for me, thats why I had the bumper bits added (less damage from their helmets). Seriously, when they cycle here in Canterbury, they bunch up and seem to ride 5-6 abreast
