The pics on my LCD are pretty good, can't that they can improve THAT much!

When free to air HD appears in 2012 I might get some extra bits, but 'til then Corrie in Analogue for me!

Yes, LCD is good, but HD will definitely improve it to almost 3D standard. My plasma Panasonic upgrades the standard picture to around 850 lines, but HD is so much better.

2012!!?? Crikey that's another 4 years away. Your eyesight will barely see the screen by then. You'll need descriptive TV!

850 lines?

Mine's got 1080P.

What will I need to have to get to fill up where all those missing lines are supposed to go?

Anyway I don't need 3D tv 'cos the LG is strapped to the wall and the room wouldn't be big enough to get a proper 3D picture in!

......with that 3D stuff, do you have to move the set side to side to get the 3D image, like those cards you get down by the seaside?

I have a 37" 1080p Toshiba telly, I chose the Tosh as in my view it gave the best picture on SD sources of any of the telly's I could afford as I refuse to pay sky a mortgage / subscription.

The only HD source I have is my PS3, and I have Planet Earth on blue ray and the picture is incredible, upscaled Shrek 3 looks pretty good too.

When watching SD sources the picture is good and clear and only blocky if you are too close to the screen. Great way of getting our 5 year old to stop standing too close to the screen!!!

Anyway the service offered by Sky is well too expensive for what I would get out of it.

Sky Sports HD? - don't do sport!

Sky Movies HD? - usually seen the movies that are available already on dvd or the cinema if they were good enough.

BBC HD? - only one pithy channel usually showing what David Attenthingy did last week!

And all that rubbish for just £300 for the receiver and at least £10 every month.

When free to air HD appears in 2012 I might get some extra bits, but 'til then Corrie in Analogue for me!
I hope the cr*ppy $ky+ box didn't cost you much.

With any luck, a following wind and a bit of co-operation between broadcasters, a free to view satellite service with HD content and PVR's will available will be available later this year.

http://www.freesat.co.uk

It might be time to junk $ky, if you haven't already.

Unfortuately/fortunately, Lady H. bought the Sky+ stuff for my birthday.

Which was last Tuesday.

Sky installed last Monday.

It broke down yesterday!

At least it lasted 48hrs.

......that's pretty good for an Amstrad product I've heard!

So I'm stuck with the + thingy for a year at least, but I will be one of the first in the land to get that Freesat stuff, like I was one of the first with my Space Ship!

Getting all excited now!

Ah the famous sky+ foibles...

Phone sky (hang on for 40 mins.....)

Finally speak to 'tech support' and all they say is 'remove your viewing card, unplug for 10 mins, plug in again and then insert your card when asked'

Tell them that you did that 4 times while waiting for them to answer the phone and they suggest you try again and call them back if it does not work.....

(Sound of head hitting brick wall)>>>>

Depends who get the contract to make the Freesat boxes and if they bother to product test them before rather than after release......

Sorry for being negative, but I was an early Sky digital & Sky+ subscriber. Wait until it has been out 6 months and do a internet search for possible problems so atleast you are buying with your eyes open.

Thanks.

I will be purchasing ASAP, but I will hopefully aim for a brand name that I can trust.

Good old Sanyo!

Incedently, my terrestial signal seemed to be poor after the Sky 'engineer' had been.

I checked it out and he had not even terminated the Co-ax plug correctly.

......'tis fixed now though!

How can you say those unkind things about Sky?

I just found they are charging me for Sky Broadband, even though I can't receive it.

So I thought I'd use their 'ASK SKY' online facility for 'Instant answers online'.

I asked:

I am being charged for Sky Broadband but cannot receive it due to an extremely weak signal. Please credit all charges.

Sky replied:

Take a look at the Help Guide: Picture freezing/Frozen.

They're you go, sorted!

I think you must have Sky+.

The '+' bit is possibly for the charges for the bits you don't have!
