RANT! - Orange :-(
Been with Orange for years and years
Wife and I are on a 'shared' talkplan which costs us (total) about £45 per month, and we get 120 free mins and 30 texts - between us. last upgraded our phones about 3 years ago. Finally got round to deciding which new phones to go for - D900 for me and Nokia 7370 for her Both of which are free on plans of £25 per month or more. Don't mind paying the extra £5 per month, and the extra mins / txts in the new packages would be handy to have. Also want to consider putting one of the phones onto a £30 package, to qualify for free broadband, as we're paying £20 per month for that (elsewhere) at the moment. Can we swap onto the new plans? And get the phones for free? Can we boogery One hour later, and I'm now waiting for a call back from 'a supervisor' best offer they have come up with so far: new plans inc broadband for £49 per month - and pay £200 for the 2 phones! Just needed to Rant, sorry |

I left Orange and went to Vodafone after being with Orange for about 5 years. When it came to upgrade they wanted £50 for a new handset even though my monthly bill was usually at least £40-50. I was also unimpressed with the Orange Home Screen they choose to put on their handsets which 'butchers' the functions of the phones they offer.
I switched to Vodafone, porting my number to avoid having to get used to a new one. Really great, better tariff - it might be better to try other networks, see what they are offering. I know of a few other people that have left Orange recently as well. Orange were once banded about as the 'best network', but I don't think the future is very bright with them any longer. |

Good rant there! I'm having a similar issue with O2, you can have the phone free if it's a new contract...but £80 if you're an exsisting customer. Errrrrr.. sorry please cancel my account and I'll go elsewhere! Actually Orange have a few good deals as do most networks and I'm tempted to go to them. Most networks have enough coverage these days I think, so doesn't matter as much as it used to; or am I wrong with this? |

You can get better deals on o2 if you try to cancel. Ask for a PAC code, and tell them the real reason you want to leave. I bet you get what you want.
As for Orange. A joke now. I left them after 8 years. Shocking. |

Conversation: TT) I want to upgrade O) Certainly, that'll be £200 TT) What! - So if I leave and rejoin, I get them for free, but if I just stay, I have to pay £200? O) Yes - silly isn't it TT) Silly? Hmmm. Can you put me through to the 'I want to leave people please' ..... TT) I want to leave O) Why? TT) Cos I want to upgrade, but it's cheaper for me to leave first. O) Ok.... Hang on, let me see what I can do... Okay. If you agree to a 24 month contract, on the same package as now, you can have the phones for free. TT) Great! - Now then, what about the broadband? O) Sorry - not on your existing package. TT) Ok - what if on a different package? O) Let me put you through to someone who can help with that. ...... TT) I want a new package to include broadband. And new phones. O) Certainly. I would suggest these - same rough cost per month - bit more, but cheaper overall as no longer paying for broadband. TT) Great! O) That'll be £200 for the phones please... TT) |

They all seem to be the same don't they. My convo was almost identical except they offered me the phone for £40 (half of the original £80) or a £5 discount on my package for 6 months. When I told them I wanted to change my package they said you can't do that without paying £80 MC: Ok no problem, you'll loose my known custom and give unkown new customers a better deal? O2: Yes we target new customers MC: So I'll cancel and take out a new contract but port my number O2: You can't port your number to the same network MC: So you don't want my custom at all then O2: Seems that way, that's what we're told. MC: Fine please send me my PAC code and I'll get a contract elsewhere O2: I'll do that, you'll get it within 48 hours MC: Thanks for your help. 4 days later still nothing... Sounds like Orange isn't a good choice then Anyone know a good deal for an SE K800i? |

Had the same from orange a few months since, as an existing user they wanted £160 - £200 for a new phone. Got a PAC code off theem and went onto T-Mobile, £20 a month for £35 of usage which can consist of texts and calls in any combination you want with the phone chucked in for free (Motorola V3i).

My husband was on contract with O2 and had nothing but problems when it came to upgrading.

Bizarre...
Just upgraded to a D900 on O2. £30 a month plan. O2: "That's an upgrade price of... now let me see..." Me: "If it's a price, I'll have a PAC code instead" O2: "Er, no, it's free". |

Tried O2 again tonight
Got a better offer but still not free, however the deal does save me £7 a month for the contract term. Pity it'll take almost a year to get the monies paid up front back. Still I might be tempted as I did get a PAC code too! |

Yes, Virgin might be worth a punt
Think I'm struggling as we share a talk plan, and don't actually spend that much each month (£45 to £50 between us). Not that my works phone may be a bit higher than that But hey ho. 4 hours and 2 1/2 pages of polite but firm letter of complaint later, we'll see what happens. We are partly stuck cos no one else seems to do the Nokia 7370 which the wife has her heart set on... |
