Me and it are going in May, she has been before as she is in the travel field, I don't know if you have booked anywhere to stay, if not read the reviews on TRIP ADVISOR.COM, they are very good and usually the truth[. Also they give good practical advice on what and what not to do. The strip is very long so take your comfortable OAP type shoes! There is a monorail that runs up and down it and its seven dollars for a day pass, but remember the city never sleeps!

Trouble with Tripadvisor is that people love to complain and do not post good reports. Far better speaking to people that have been. Hotels that I have used after having looked at TA are no where near as bad as they make out.

Have been before and found that the Treasure Island is probably one of the best hotels that I have ever stayed in!

You only seem to get any grief there if you want to enter the hotel when they are doing their Pirate Show, then the entrance gets a bit confined.

The monorails seem to just whisk you between a few of the hotels, not T.I. though! OK for fun trips but not really that practical.

The Duece bus, a double decker, runs 24/7 and you can get a 24hr pass for just $5, so that's probably the best bet.

The taxis can work out to be expensive as the strip and surrounding roads are busy and the time on the meter soon whips round!

......as for the city that never sleeps, no problems for C.H. there!

Things to do in Vegas

Hi Charles,
During our visit last May we spent a great morning at the HARMON MEDICAL CENTRE, good value and thoroughly recommended.

All for 190 US inclusive, I had a consultation with the Doc and 60 tablets to last me for the rest of the holiday.

The moral is - don't forget your pills.

Enjoy your trip

Do I walk there or is there one of those accident chasing ambulances to give you a lift?

Vegas is amazing, can't wait to go back again.

Recommended trip - Get a hire car and go to the Hoover Dam, great day out

Enjoy yourself

No ambulance chasing, but I did get a "Free" lift back to the hotel in a limo.

Last time Lady H. and I went we drove to Vegas from San Fransisco.

Route 66 and all that!

We stayed at the Luxor and we were both disappointed there, it felt 'unfriendly'.

I think that the atrium, supposedly the largest in the world, made it seem 'empty'.

We stayed there for a couple of days then drove off to the Hoover Dam on route to the Grand Canyon.

Both were, in our opinion, disappointing.

Lake Mead on that route was very pretty though.

The Strip was a different matter.

When we returned from the Canyon we stayed at Treasure Island, now that was great!

A little dearer than the Luxor, but I reckon one of the best hotels that we have ever stayed in.

Just two weeks away now, can't wait!
