If the new one is half as good as the old one, then she is making a great choice.
My wife has had her Yaris for over 7 years, and it has been a very very comfortable, safe and reliable mode of transport. |

my wife is looking at the new Yaris too! Although I have put off for a year or so as she has a tendency to hit things at present.

Defecting
No, it's not to replace MY Civic.... (phew...) but an elderly Audi A6 that has done great service but is now becoming just a tad too big and a tad too expensive for Mrs. Fergus's needs.

My mrs has just replaced her 53 plate Corsa SXi with an Aygo Blue and loves it. It does 60 (on the speedo) in 2nd as well
It is the same engine as the 1.0 in the Yaris, as it needs revving (which it loves) in the Aygo, not sure what it will be like in a Yaris. While I love it, I still am surprised about the number of small cars that need the 7 bells trashed out of them to make progress. Hardly fits the bill as a shopping car. Fergus if you are looking at the 1 litre, I would make sure you take it on the motorway..... Sorry about the colour CH, but as it is a special edition and only available in blue!!! |

My Wife change her 1996 Tigra for a Daihatsu Trevis... and she is more than happy with it !
I've had a look at the other Daihatsu and one who might be interesting for you is the Materia. It is based on the same frame and mechanical elements than the Toyota Yaris. A lot a space, very good finish and a real look |

Update, she bought the Yaris and what a pile it is, and the dealers really take the "we've got your money so s*d off with your problems" award.
Three weeks in, it broke down again - clutch this time. The morons at the dealership still haven't fitted the accessory pack we've paid for and we sent the "we reject this car, give us our money back" letter. Tomorrow, Mrs Fergus does what she should have done in the first place and orders a Jazz..... |

Further update, don't go near the T*y*ta Forum and dare to criticise the sainted Yaris! you'll get blown away on a tide of rhetoric and abuse. Glad we're (mostly) grown up about our cars....

It must be just the Yaris that is the Holy Grail, because the Aygo get a few (a couple unjustified IMO) complaints as well.
The biggest annoyance in our Aygo is cost cutting, it only has a door light contact switch on the driver's side. Now that really winds me up. However the Aygo proves that small cars can be FUN |
