French speed cameras

After travelling to Paris and back over the weekend, I was wondering if the French speed cameras have any allowance built in.

Will I get a way with 140 kph in a 130 kph zone?

I know that UK camera are set to allow 10% + 2mph, I was just wondering if there is anything similar in France.

The speed calculation is made this way las time I've been "Flashed" by an automatic speed camera :
Speed limitation : 110 km/h
Speed measured : 130 km/h
Speed recorded after technical allowance application : 123 km/h

It cost me 1 point and 45 € ...

Usualy to be safe I count Speed limitation + 5Km/h allowance + 6km/h from the civic speedo = 130+5+6=141 km/h

but I will not guarantee that calculation

Oh, just to make the point, I've bee flashed because I supposed the area limited at 130... and I was wrong !

I was on the A1 (I think) heading south towards Paris and the Civic speedo said 150kph and my Tomtom I think (the sun was very bright on Saturday morning) said 140kph.

I did not see it flash, but as the sun was very bright, I may have missed it. Your French ones are not mounted up on posts like ours are so they are harder to spot!!!

With luck you will be out of trouble because with an UK plate they will maybe not going to search you for a minor offence...

We are informed between 3 days and 3 weeks when we are flashed ... So wait and see !

Also, if you are caught you will get the fine sent over here and it will be 60 pounds and three points (not the french equivalent), as they treat you like your on a British road.

Part of the new european (fascist) rules, you don't get away with it cos' your foreign they just forward it to the DVLA.

But that is not fair as in the UK, they would not prosecute as within the 10% + 2mph...

Nothing is fair when it comes to the British motorist! We pay through the nose for everything!

I agree it's not fair but when your country is under subjugation from what is essentially a fascist foreign power what are we to do. (BTW for the monitors from the EU, I will be one of the first Partisans when it starts ).

Tough Sh*t I think is the term, doesn't matter, you've disobeyed some stupid law, (if you hit someone you'd only be continuing what the British have been doing for the last 1000 years...... maybe that joke went to far????? JK, no offence guys we have historically fought each other until the Germans come along then we fight them, until the Italians/Romans come along and we fight them, it goes on and on.....). But anyway, if you have broken the limit and been caught they will in all probability persue you sadly enough (which is why you should have bought photoblocker ).

I travel in france every 6 weeks or so doing 1000 miles every time. Have been flashed several times but never heard anything, so has anyone actually been pursued by post or is it just scaremongering by the press?
Not on our usual route but I| like the ones that say "trop Vitesse" and give your speed in KMH on the southbound auto routes used to have great fun with those in my jag!

Never spoken to anyone who has been done by timing toll tickets either so maybe thats another urban myth?

BTW road angel gps locator does have the french sites on for a £50 subscription and are apparently legal so long as they dont have the radar/laser attatchment.

Oh and arent french motorists good at moving over unlike the uk!

I know myu father tore up a ticket in front of a French cop once and just drove off, he never came after us, but the 'fish police' did.

Crikey, as a good, honest, upright citizen who has always paid his taxes, never ever claimed from the government, paid all my bills before the due date, paid for my childrens university education and board, always obeyed the law, pay car insurance and road fund licence, never default on a debt; as soon as I started something I'd be thrown in jail and never heard from again!!

At the moment the only foreigners who can be in trouble are the one who have an agreement with the French Government (Switzerland) Your government has to find a similar agreement with us ... except if policemen intercept you !
Concerning the timing with the toll ticket it's a urban legend !

The French must believe the legend though because they appear to drive slower on the sections between toll booths than the rest of the autoroutes.

Sunday must have been race day as there was loads of Belgians and Germans doing well over 160 kph heading uptowards Lille. I was slower than this as I took 2 hours 30 mins from Eurodisney to Eurotunnel
