things that make you laugh

an upbeat collection of random thoughts (hopefully)

If there is one thing in my daily job that never fails to make me shake my head with a wry grin it is this...

A lot of my work is done via email.
A lot of the emails I get are from reasonably important people in external companies - often Techies.
I have no issue with them signing off with things like:
Job Title;
Company name;
phone numbers;
web site

But.
Why oh why oh why, do people feel the need to add
Email: abcd@jkhgjg.co.uk
to their signatures?

I know what your email address is!
It's the one at the top of the email next to where it says "from"

And - spookily - if I hit 'reply' hey presto, my email program knows what your address is too!

hey ho

enough ramblings for now, please feel free to add

cheers

When i was out on placement last year from uni, i found it quite funny how the managers (who didn't really like each other) would be very sarcastic too each other through email, at times insulting (trying to show authority?). All this whilst there was 10 people CC'd into the emails.
But when they see each other out on site or in the office they are all smiles and respecting each other.

As you say TT, why do people add their email address? A lot of people do where I work but there again someone may reply to you from a personal email, but need a reply to a group email address....... that way a message/question will not be missed if someone is a away/ill, essential in the Investment Banking world. Bit boring I know......

ah yes - email wars

can either be "look at how clever I am and I want to tell the world!" or the reply "actually you're really stupid and I bet you wish you hadn't copied everyone in now..."

and somehow the CC list only every gets bigger...

Staying on the theme of web adresses, people should REALY think about their domain name before jumping in. The following are real (and safe). Apologies if they offend....

1) Who Represents?, a database for agencies to the rich and famous:
http://www.whorepresents.com/

2) Experts Exchange, a knowledge base where programmers can exchange
advice and views: http://www.expertsexchange.com

3) Looking for a pen? Look no further than Pen Island:
http://www.penisland.net/

4) Need a therapist? Try http://www.therapistfinder.com/

5) Mole Station Native Nursery, based in New South Wales:
