Improve your manhood spam
Has anyone found a programme that will stop this in-discriminant spam?
Every day lately I receive emails about it. 'Improve your pecker' , 'Let down by your manhood' etc. Now, I've never had a problem in that department, and at my age I can honestly say that I have no need nor desire to make any 'modifications' as I am now designed for comfort, rather than speed! I know these creeps send this rubbish out by working their way through the alphabet and trying all combinations of addresses, so they should stop after a few weeks. But how do I stop them in the first place? I keep adding them to the 'blocked senders' list, but, of course, they arrive with a different senders name each time. Anyone any ideas? PS: If anyone does have a problem and would like me to forward the message to them, then please send me a PM. "Behind every successful man is a woman, behind her is his wife." - Groucho Marx. |

Allan, what email package are you using (Outlook, Outlook Express etc), and what anti-virus / anti spyware?
there are some settings to help, depending on which one you have |

Hi TTD, I'm still with Virgin for Broadband and emails can be viewed via their website or by going into Outlook Express.
The anti virus/anti-spyware is Virgins own (Virgin Broadband PCguard) which is free with my subscription and is updated several times a day. I have activated: Anti-Virus, Firewall, Anti-Spyware, Identity Theft and I have just activated 'Privacy manager'. I have not activated Parental Control and Pop-up Blocker (the latter interferes with using 'Smilies' - probably because I have another blocker turned on, Windows own, I think). PS: Regarding the other discussion thread re Sky, I checked with BT and the best I can hope for is 1.5Mbps. I currently get very close to 4Mbps with Virgin and that is shortly being increased to 10Mbps for no extra charge. So I decided to stay with them, hang the expense. PPS: I have checked online in the Virgin mail section and under 'Spam' and I have already selected 'Delete Spam Immediately'. Last edited by allan40alt; 7th March 2008 at 11:53. |

I used to get those spams.
Even tried them out & they do work! Anyway. I got fed up with all that c**p and changed my 'E' address and my 'E' mail provider, I was with Incredimail. Problems gone for twelve months or more now. That can actually produce a negative effect as they know the email addy exists and they sell them on to others.
I use Pipex and they have an 'alias' function on your email addresses. Once one starts collecting a load of rubbish I just change the alias to something else. Same email box but different address. Also try to keep one address just for trusted people and the other(s) for untrusted or not sure peeps. |

I have found that GFI Mail Essentials works very well.
I have only used this on Exchange servers however, I donīt know if they do a client version also. GFI - Fax server, Exchange anti-virus, anti-spam, vulnerability management and email archiving software |

Sorry, Charles.
Just joking. Don't hold it against me. I've just found this on the Microsoft website: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ma...CE011153541033 Has anyone tried it? |
