I can never quite justify the cost of Sky. Looking at HD...

Movie or sport mix: £840 for year 1, then £576 a year
Movies and sport mix: £924 for year 1, then £660 a year

For me, that's too much for the material over and above what I get from freeview.

I have Sky mix + Sport + Movies + HD = £53 per month = £636.

HD picture quality is fantastic.

Agreed - the monthly cost pays for 3-4 Blueray discs a month!!!!

I have recently got Sky HD installed, fair chuffed with it at the moment.

No Sports or Movies at the moment, but seriously considering getting the sports.

Since I work away, I have no idea how I managed without Sky+ functionality!!

You will be amazed at the picture quality watching sports like football etc in HD. Amazing clarity and sharpness.

It is very tempting, but even when I factored in the £10 per month less that I would pay for broadband, I can't even get close to justifying the cost *

Humax PCR9200 with 100hours recording space does the job for us

* plus the minor issue of the missues seeing the dish and then giving me "the look"...

Yes, I know what you mean. I had the same problem but they are much smaller dishes now though and I was able to position it on the side of our house, slightly back and away from 'in your face' sight. Hardly notices.

I haven't regretted binning Sky when I moved. There still aren't enough HD channels in my opinion to justify the extra £10 a month. I have just got BT Vision installed and that has twin tuner Sky like functionality with a free text search. Sky + eat your heart out (or can it do that now?). Glad I'm not giving Sky the £50 odd quid a month as just recieved our new Council Tax bill.

Crikey, that's good. I thought that had been forgotten. I will look at that for next year to off-set the extra motoring costs!
