Not as bad as I thought.

Reading the headlines in the Telegraph this morning I thought it was doubling.

I'm going from £140 (which I just got ) to £145 then on to £150.

After that the Hybrid will be next to nothing if not lower.

All 1.4s = 136 to 139
All 2.2s = 135 to 140
1.8s with 17" and i-shift = 149
rest of 1.8s = 152 to 156
Type R = 215
Hybrid =
not sure, but 101-120 band

2008 (now)
Band B (101-120g/km CO2) £15 = Hybrid
Band C (121-150g/km CO2) £120 = All 1.4s, All 2.2s, 1.8s with 17" wheels and i-shift £5 increase
Band D (151-165g/km CO2) £145 = rest of the 1.8s £5 increase
Band F (185g/km to 225 CO2) £210 = Type R £5 increase

2009-10
Band B (101-110g/km CO2) £20 = Hybrid £5 more
Band E (131-140g/km CO2) £110 = All 1.4s and 2.2s £10 less
Band F (141- 150g/km CO2) £120 = 1.8s with 17" and i-shift no change
Band G (151 to 160g/km CO2) £150 = rest of 1.8s £5 increase
Band K (201 to 225g/km CO2) £300 = Type R £90 increase

2010-11
Band B (101-110g/km CO2) £20 /Band C (111-120g/km CO2) £35 = Hybrid, depending on exactly what emmisions level is
Band E (131-140g/km CO2) £115 = All 1.4s and 2.2s £5 increase
Band F (141- 150g/km CO2) £125 = 1.8s with 17" and i-shift £5 increase
Band G (151 to 160g/km CO2) £155 = rest of 1.8s £5 increase
Band K (201 to 225g/km CO2) £310 = Type R £10 increase

2010-11 NOTE this is the 'showroom tax' for cars bought in this year
Band E (131-140g/km CO2) £110 = All 1.4s and 2.2s
Band F (141- 150g/km CO2) £120 = 1.8s with 17" and i-shift
Band G (151 to 160g/km CO2) £150 = rest of 1.8s
Band J (181 to 200g/km CO2) £425 / Band K (201 to 225g/km CO2) tbc = Type R - TBC, but more than £425...

Its been.....

Its been a long time coming. I think that most people are shocked by this sudden increase due to the fact that all the talk before was about the Gas Guzzling 4x4's when infact other cars ie the RX8 were in for the £300, then £400 tax rise.

I love my car and if its what i've got pay then its what i've got to pay. Bit miffed by the fact that newer car owners are penalised when there are still a load of older cars on the road which are not efficent but get away with a smaller road tax due to the fact their car was registed before March 2001. If we out it into perspective, are you telling me that someone with a 4.5l Range Rover on a X plate for instance is emitting less CO2 than my CTR? Think not but they pay a smaller road tax. I really think that all cars should have to pay based on a yearly check of the CO2 emmission they are pumping out.

I'm going to have to use my car more in order to make the road tax viable really.

I do know that people at my work where shocked when they learned of the hike they face. 9 out of 10 people (according to the AA) will be effected by Higher Tax on their car which is shocking. I will hold my hands up and say yes I deserve to be taxed on a car like this. I am a single female which no longer needs a car like this. I bought this car when myself and my then partner were expecting our first child as I needed something bigger but no longer do but I'm not selling it on that base alone. But other people who do have larger cars based on the fact they have a family are also being penalised.

The goverment were given an opertunity many years ago to have electric cars on our roads but the idea was shelved, now we all have to pay for them ignoring the fact that we need to have greener cars.

The technology is already here to reduce engine emissions but car manufactures won`t put it in to play for some reason.I deliver car parts to Honda and drive a 38 ton truck on a daily basis. The company i work for has just traded it`s old Volvo units in for GREENER models. The new units are fitted with an additional style fuel tank which is filled with a liquid called "ADBLUE".This liquid is sprayed intermittantly into the catalyitic convertor to create a chemical reaction which significantly reduces emissions.
Basically because of this road tax for the truck is reduced by TWO THIRDS!!!
ADBLUE is infact 90% pig piss!!!

My 1.8 i-shift with 17" wheels is in band D, currently £140. The i-shift banding changed from 2007 March onwards.

if you have these race versions then you will get ripped off both in ved, fuel & servicing. i will buy your 19" rages if it gets to expensive to run they will look nice on my diesel with cheap tax. the funny thing is the girlfriend pays the say as me for a 1.3 fiesta but im not complaining 140bhp againts about 80 bhp. best deal is my bike, but this should be free but £64 a year for 180bhp (1300cc)
