Satnav for £6 anyone!

AXA Sun Life Direct - Guaranteed Over 50 Plan - Homepage

Sat Nav For Approx. £6 - MoneySavingExpert.com Forums

I obtained this offer from the Martin Lewis (money Saving Expert) web site. You have to be over 50 or perhaps have willing Parents to qualify. You take out a life plan at the minimum monthly premium of £6 (we both took one out so we could give Daughter & Son-In_Law one)and Hey Presto 6 weeks later 2 shiny new Satnavs arrived. You don't know what you are going to get but in our case we got Via Michelin X960 new editions worth say £70/80. UK and Ireland maps. Then cancel the DD's job done
Seem OK but so far only used locally - well can't complain for £6.
Fancied one for a while as am gadget freak but would only use occasionally so couldn't justify buying one at market cost.

Ah ViaMichelin

When I was in the dealers the other day I was reading a review of a ViaMichelin in the WhatCar magazine that was in their library for waiting customers.

They reckoned it was the worst SatNav they had ever tested as it got them totally lost and they had to resort to a paper map in the end.

I believe it uses the same maps as Tomtom. For under 10 euros you also get option to update map in first 3 months.
Speak as you find - seems ok to me and there are plenty of good reviews out there. It is a budget model and in this case virtually free.

£4.99 - pocket size A-Z - much easier to use and disposable too. No need to update or buy an expensive new disc, just go and buy the next edition at reprint.

If these multi billion pound companies, are daft enough to leave themselves wide open, its their own fault.
I think all of us over 50's should apply for one, whether we wan't one or not.
We can always give it to someone.
I have been getting freebies for years from "Which" Mag' and then stopping my direct debit.

What have you got to lose. My Son-in-law is pleased with his as I am with mine. Made a mount so I can have it in front of the open flap under the radio. Looks quite neat and less obtrusive.

Why I think we should take advantage of them is ----
We are offered a chance to pay into a plan for when we fall off of our perches, which offers no interest & therefore does not keep up with inflation ( pay in more than you get out), they only pay out after 2 years. Do they think that we are completely daft, if I need the dosh to have myself buried, I could put it into a Post Office savings account and get more.
There is an old saying, -- If a company needs to pay a so called "celebrity" to advertise their product, it is more than likely cr-p.
Parkinson is in on the act now, like he really needs the dosh.
