non functioning brake lights

can anyone shed any light(pardon the pun) on why so many people now remove their brake light bulbs so that when braking only the centre led lights up, I see this more and more surely this is illegal?

Surely it is more likely that the bulbs fail or the electrics on the car are faulty, and the owner does nothing to fix it... I don't think it is intentional removal of the bulbs.

no im certain it is, this is a frequent sight even on 57 and 08 plate cars I can only assume its meant to look cool like leaving front fog lights on all the time etc

Is it just on Vauxhalls and VW Golfs. They seem to be the main culprits of the blown bulb.

Sorry they will not get pulled as this country is mainly policed by camera so they will evade detection as long as they stay within the speed limit.
