Is it any wonder the police/pcso's get bad press??

Just been watching this as part of a course on media and propaganda; I think it's quite an abuse of power (especially when the PCSO hardly speaks English!).

I found it outrageous, I must say.

My reaction would have been much the same as the photographer, if I was lucky ! Hard to see how he kept his temper.

The whole thing is sad indictment of what we are becoming

Makes me glad to have grown up in the 50's and 60's. I have real concerns about the future based on this kind of attitude from those supposedly in authority. Authority is not granted by a job as this person seems to think, but as a respect and regard for a job well done, personally and 'institutionally'. Any respect for this person rapidly evaporates the more he talks himself into a corner and disappears altogether with the 'telling' comeback of 'Shut Up !,. shut up'.

<sigh> I am getting more and more cross as I write, so I had better stop here !

Same here I was fuming more and more as I watched it! People seem to forget respect is earnt, not just a given. I don't resepct anyone until I know their measure (Tbh, I like it, it's easy hating everyone until you get to know them ). This guy obviously didn't know the law properly (afterall he is only a PCSO, glorified traffic warden reject, no offence to any PCSO's this after all a generalisation, I'm sure some of you are great, but the majority I've met, just like to wander round in a glowing uniform.). I had a hard time understanding the asian guy and the white guy with him were his final words shut up or F-off, my lip reading is terrible.

Well, a GOOD story to report on that score. I was changing flights at Philly to get to Orlando. Took only hand luggage and was off the plane first so I got into a huge and empty immigration hall ! Handed over my visa waiver and the nice man (!) on the counter asked if I had been to the USA before. I said I had and he said 'In THAT case, Sir, you should know there are TWO sides to this form.'

Ooops !

He looked behind me into the empty Hall and said with a smile .. ' I am afraid, Sir, you must go to the back of the line and complete it.'

He let me fill the rest in where I was was and wished us a good visit.

But yes, he did get his little officious point made, but with some rare sense of wry humour.



PS Well done in exporting the dollars, Charles, what games did you play in the end, and which one gave you the winnings ? Glad you had a good time.

Yes Charles (I tried 2002 going to New York, just a little security conscious, hmmmm). Best bit was the plane trip, lands and everyone gets up to get off, and a voice comes over the tannoy, please remain seated, the following people have been selected for extra random security screening:

Mr Mahmoud Khan,
Mr Abdu Jabal
and so on and so forth, every asian guy on the planes was selected, ain't it grand they're not profiling people.

I thought anyone who was being filmed for a tv show has to give the show producers written consent to use images of themselves before broadcast. He was out of line stopping the guy filming for his personal use but surely would have a say in whether he could be filmed and the images used in a tv show.

Back on topic: The fake cop in question was a complete bellend and should be sacked for talking like that to a member of public. Tom do you know what did happen to him? Was the video shown to his superiors ?

I definatly dont think it needs to be deleted. For every negative stereotype theres always someone working twice as hard to give off a good impression.

The reference by John Howard was only to those amongst us who wish to cause trouble and disruption, not to people in general, whatever their faith or where they originate from.

I respect the fact that it could be misinterpreted and have removed it on that basis.
