My wife want's a Smart Car, as she thinks its time to get shot of her little Fiat Ciecento Sporting, ( spelling- never could get my head round it). ( but its not been a penny worth of trouble since I bought it new).
I am tempted, but it's so small and what protection would she have, as one passed me doing a good 80+. When I met up with it at the lights, it had AMG on the back and thats the one she wants.

I'd like one of those - but where do you get a long enough extension lead?

0-30 in 6.5 seconds for a police car... hmmmmm....

Have they been reading Terry Pratchett's definition of a good police officer ?

One who can spot trouble brewing well before it actually happens, and be somewhere else entirely when it does ?

Trouble with Smart is Mercedes dealers were forced to take them on in the UK. They chuck young inexperienced sales staff in the showroom, the service area often have to charge a lower labour rate than Mercedes meaning they want you in and out asap with as little fuss as poss and they aren't marketed particularly well in the UK meaning the depreciation is terrible.

I had a SMART Roadster list price £14k, I got it £12k they were been sold for £9.5k new within 18 months of going on sale.

The only reason they are still going is because of two things:
1. The Smart helps bring Mercedes overall average CO2 ratings down
2. The factory is in France and due to their employment laws would cost millions of Euros for them to pull out.

The Smart is fantastic idea poorly executed. Safety wise it's hell of lot safer than a Fiat Cinq.

Looks like fun and economical to drive around town / locally. I have heard electric cars are very torquey from low revs, which is perfect for town driving. What do you think of it after driving it Bob H ?

It was really fun to drive and because the batteries are located under the car, this gives it a lower centre of gravity than the normal Smart car thus giving better handeling... I gave it a fairly good run up some steep roads and the car continued at the same speed, so plenty of torque, charged it up overnight in my garage and gave it back the next day..

Wouldn't swap for my car though!!!

Cheers,

Bob...
