Don't you just love post's like this - a public display of someone's ignorance, rather than contributing to the thread topic!

I feel rather guilty not always sticking to the topic (suppose I'm borderline...), but not at this level .

Job done - my next car is very likely to be another Civic
TC Perhaps the fact the Focus outsells the Civic is explained by the discounts!!!

Perhaps the Citroen method of heavy discounting was thrown in for free when they bought PSA diesel engines!!!

Hmmm maybe the fact they sell so many means they can afford to give discounts

Anyway to agree with other of far greater seniority on here I think a good dose of hold on and see is needed here...

As an unhelpful aside, Also what of the old ford explorer Debacle... these things doubtlessly can and do potentially happen, HOWEVER neither does it mean that this is or *isn't* a red herring...

I will remain skeptical and the moment...

You have all gone completely off the subject so that you can bad mouth other makes !!

It is so childish to constantly do this and also to continue to think that Honda put the greatest cars on the road do none of you ever read the bugs section or the goodbye section - clearly not!

TC

This thread is in the bugs section!!

Agree with you about the off thread however... especially on something potentially serious. (Often to blame myself)

While i will give apologies to you in full topcat (and everybody else) for A) Admittedly going slightly off topic B) making fun of other makes I must say that my intent was to show that all car makers can and do suffer from this and the resultant stigma (as did somebody earlier when mentioning BMW airbags triggering incorrectly on the cabrio's... (sorry to lazy to go and find the quote))... So it is indeed Possible that this is actually a very soberingly scary fault and could well be real...

I myself am likely to be affected being an early adopter so I do not belittle your concern as it is my own also... of the few posts I have put to this site most of them will show i have had my fair-ish share of woe from owning the Car, but i still enjoy it everyday even though the bloody thing eats tyres and brake pads almost as quickly as oil...

I still stick to the notion of needing to see the proof and/or be told by Pottsy/ttdegs that this is a problem... Finally there are a lot of people on here how love there cars warts and all (like me), also a lot of people who have had utter Lemon cars (as in the goodbye section mostly), as are their totally chuffed lucky sods who get 25,000 miles a set out of there fronts tyres (not nine-ish like me and CP...)...

So I will refute the claim of mindless Marque bashing but admit to being off topic (even more so after this) and to get back one topic stick to saying that we need to be cautious and wait for all the factors to come to light... My lovely lemon car shows that Honda was far from on the ball with this Civic so the possibility of this being true is there... All the talk of Safety tolerance is well over my head, as it will be for most I would imagine... i just don't think we should witch hunt just yet, that said as i believe Topcat was sort of getting at, blind faith in anything is never a good thing.

Apologies to all and thank you pottsy for moving the post.

I knew that

My point was people seem to constantly say other makes are dreadful, not just Ford.

I have had three Fords in my driving lifetime and they have all been brilliant, my dad only ever had Fords and likewise never had problems. I had a Golf and the Head gasket blew twice!! I have had two civics both riddled with faults.

I still miss my Civic but not the problems it came with and I have never said that ALL Hondas are the same I have never suggested that people shouldnt buy one so it really winds me up when people do suggest that any other choice of car is a bad one.

Oh an this rant is aimed at you btw

No, we just don't think the world has come to an end cos' of a rattle, I'm told someone found a fault with a Ford once!
Think it made news at ten because some people think only Honda have catastrophic faults like a squeak from the dash.!

You can only make a judgement through experience.

I don't make sweeping generalisations on other makes/models. Like most people, I have an opinion on the look of cars - unless I have owned (or driven for a reasonable amount of time), I am in no position to say anthing like " All xxxx are cr*p".

That just shows ignorance!

Equally, my opinon of Hondas very low because of the experience with my Civic.

I know alot of forum members have just got thier Civics and are in their honeymoon period, but they also need to accept no car/manufacturer is perfect and maybe they will start seeing problems after a year (or sooner) of ownership.

TC and I will defened Ford because, up until now our experience of Ford has been better that the one we had with Honda!
