Diesel, its the future, I've seen it! Well maybe not strictly true, but if can get our arses in gear and start to make biofuels it would be a great fuel to use.

I see fuel cells as the way to the future, til then I'll stick to petrol. Both diesel and petrol will run out sooner rather than later. Even with biofules, they still ump out some horrible greenhouse gasses.

1st Diesel, 1st Civic, 2nd Honda.

Have driven the odd company diesel van over the years - and I learnt to drive in a diesel 306.
Chose diesel 'cos of low CO2, and higher mpg. I'll see how it goes (still on my first tank) over the next few weeks. Hope mpg goes up a bit as it's currently on 49, and I used to get 47 out of my 1.4 Jazz!

I've driven diesels since 1989 (as it's my company policy) and can say that today's diesels are superior in every respect.

My 1.6 escort diesel had the power of a wet lettuce, and sounded like something built by Massey Ferguson.

The biggest leap forward, in my opinion, was the introduction of Common Rail Injection.

Been a convert ever since I test drove an Accord Tourer with the i-CDTI engine - before that they were smelly, noisy things.

Had an Accord for two years then when I gave up having company cars and bought my own, the logical choice was the Civic with that engine - Had it nearly a month and no regrets

As a self confessed 'Petrol head' I wasn't too keen on the Diesel drive.
However I was pleasantly surprised and preferred it over the petrol option.
Almost a year into diesel driving now and I hate the petrol drive much more now (must a lazy thing, or is it the boost addiction??) Personally it feels a smoother drive with all that torque low down, and no silly rpm to get the speed up.

It will improve, I was in the low 40's even on long runs when I first picked it up, now on a 140 mile (120 miles on M'Way) round trip to work, Cruise set at 72 I can get 56mpg average on the computer, worked out computer is 2 or 3 mpg out, when measuring brim full to brim full.

Did drive a very sick diesel Land Rover back in the late sixties. Used as much oil as diesel.

When I eventually get my 2.2 i-CDTi EX, which has now been put back to the 12th Nov this will be the first diesel that I have owned but many years back used to drive HGV's in the forces.

I'd go for hydrogen power. It only emits steam, and I'm sure Pottsy would have a field day with its explosive qualities. 0-60 in 2 secs ?.
