M25 Cameras
The project has now started to implement safety cameras along the western section of the M25.
Currently there are 2 sets of carriageway wide cameras on the clockwise section. 1 set between junctions 13 and 14 and the other set just before J15. The anti-clockwise set are between J14 and J13. Unlike last time where it was just rumours, this time I have personally seen these new cameras and they are very plain to see, but only from the opposite carriageway. When they become active is another matter as these cameras have only appeared in the last few days. |

Also watch on the M20
I thought there had always been cameras all along the variable speed limit part of the M25 ,however from the gongs from my Sat Nav, mainly they appear to be fromthe A3 to LHR. Looks like they are filling in the gaps then.
NB If anyone is heading down towards Ashford (Kent) or Dover Area down the M20, new cameras have been installed between J5 and J8 as you pass Maidstone. More than likely, these will extend eventually to J3 where the M26 joins the M20 |

According to the Telegraph the other week the cameras have always been there but they are upgrading them to the latest digital ones. When they're live they'll be set a lot lower than the current ones.

There has been lots of speculation recently and even articles in the press which have been proved to be false. When they widened and resurfaced the western section during 2004/5 they did not replace any cameras. What they are now doing, and a new set have appeared in the last 24hrs, is installing HADECS cameras along the western section. These cameras are 'blindingly obvious' when viewed from the opposite carriageway but hidden by the gantry framework on the direction of travel. The latest set are on one gantry, both directions, at Junction 12 (M3/M25). Clockwise they are after the M23 and anti-clockwise the gantry immediately prior to the M3 turnoff. What I don't know is whether they vary with the variable speed limit or whether they are just looking for the over 70mph mob. |
